From my experience, no one can tell you what it is, they can only tell you what it isn't.

I am staunchly of the opinion that you can not understand Hegel unless you are german; it is lost on anyone who isn't, even on those who learned german later in life.
You need your own Hegel in your language, but sadly all you end up with is Heraclit and Lao Zi tier stuff or a complete lack.

They always were cheap references, mostly. I think the coolest thing about Subahibi is that the author read a couple of lines of Wittgenstein and then expanded them into a massive story with all kinds of craziness. But I thought the translation was good, most of the philosophy is directly quoted and they did a good job tracking down sources and pulling from them instead of trying to translate that stuff themselves.
