The characters are all faggots and the writing is so pretentious with how the author wastes 4 pages describing you what the bathroom looks like. It just seems like the writers are trying to stall you from realizing the story is shit by using slow pacing and cliff hangers, then when you reach the end of the book you realize you wasted your fucking time. The whole scam by writers in literature is to distract you from realizing the plot is bad. Meanwhile in stuff like Naruto something cool is always happening every chapter, and the characters are more unique, the world building has more depth and soul to it.

OP puts up a good argument and explains his side, and all /lit/ can do is mock him. This is undeniable proof that anime chads have more intelligence than /lit/izens do. Reading books is just cope for the dunning krugers to feel smart even though they aren't.

Anime is for the braindead who literally can't think more than 10 seconds straight so they need constant fanservice thrown in their face. Anime directors are making fun of them by explaining every joke in any anime, god forbid they think for a second

It’s not a good argument. He just makes sweeping generalizations which are really a matter of opinion and doesn’t even give specific examples. Books don’t capture his attention quickly enough? Okay. Sounds like books aren’t for him. What is there to argue?

This argument is hilarious given the average anime fan has the attention span of a cocker spaniel and the artistic sensibility of a rock. A good example of this is how many anime fans absolutely HATE when the medium tries to be anything besides childish (Evangelion, Code Geass, SE Lain) The average /lit/ poster has a dramatically better taste in anime compared to the kind of retard who spouts this shit. You can only appreciate good anime writing if you have experience reading actually good books. Otherwise you just end up a nitpicky fag like /tv/ and /a/ posters whining about trivial bullshit like plotholes or power scaling.

The entire point is that his power fantasy was absolutely terrible for everyone around him and fundamentally corrupted him. Its the anti power fantasy, he gets what he wants and it destroys him. I can see where we might disagree on this, but its definitely got depth to it beyond "genius kid wins at everything" since every time he wins he sinks further into being a monster. Feel free to disagree.

I can see why you would think that, as half the pleasure of reading fiction comes from how you interpret everything you read (for me at least) which means that if you're not used to doing that, you're not going to enjoy reading.
What I don't understand is how you can watch anime instead of just reading the manga. Most low budget anime (read: most anime) have sloppy animation, painfully dragged out scenes and often don't even get to the second season.
Sure, I know you can give me exceptions, I enjoy plenty of anime too, but even hyped shows like Re:Zero have slideshow animation when they run out of their fairly limited budgets (not to mention that Re:Zero is shit either way).

>VNs should be judged by their visuals
Anyone that ever read a decent VN would realize that the music plays a bigger role for a VN than its visuals. If the music is good, and if the story is interesting than the visuals at best only need to be passable. And even then, Umineko's (original) visuals were barely passable and its still great because the story is great and it has one of the best osts for any VN.

The visuals are what distinguishes them from a regular book. Saying the visuals aren't important is megacope. Might as well just read a novel if the art is this ugly.

Visual novel is literally an arbitrary term. In Japan they don't even call them that (In fact they used to call them sound novels). Again, if you ever played a decent VN you would realize that while the visuals aren't totally insignificant, a great sound track and interesting story could make a VN with other wise lackluster art great.

Why is anime so boring compared to books?
The characters are all faggots and the animation is so clean cut and boring that it leaves nothing to the imagination. It just seems like the writers are trying to stall you from realizing the story is shit by using unnecessary action, slow pacing, and cliff hangers, then when you reach the end of the anime you realize you wasted your fucking time. The whole scam by writers in anime is to distract you from realizing the plot is nonexistent. Meanwhile in stuff like War and Peace something cool is always happening every chapter, and the characters are more unique, the world building has more depth and soul to it.
