I enjoy anime and manga as well but you're likely not getting anything out watching or reading either other than a temporary rush.

This argument is hilarious given the average anime fan has the attention span of a cocker spaniel and the artistic sensibility of a rock. A good example of this is how many anime fans absolutely HATE when the medium tries to be anything besides childish (Evangelion, Code Geass, SE Lain) The average /lit/ poster has a dramatically better taste in anime compared to the kind of retard who spouts this shit. You can only appreciate good anime writing if you have experience reading actually good books. Otherwise you just end up a nitpicky fag like /tv/ and /a/ posters whining about trivial bullshit like plotholes or power scaling.

I can see why you would think that, as half the pleasure of reading fiction comes from how you interpret everything you read (for me at least) which means that if you're not used to doing that, you're not going to enjoy reading.
What I don't understand is how you can watch anime instead of just reading the manga. Most low budget anime (read: most anime) have sloppy animation, painfully dragged out scenes and often don't even get to the second season.
Sure, I know you can give me exceptions, I enjoy plenty of anime too, but even hyped shows like Re:Zero have slideshow animation when they run out of their fairly limited budgets (not to mention that Re:Zero is shit either way).

Oreimo is the best light novel to exist in Japan.

Anyone that ever read a decent VN would realize that the music plays a bigger role for a VN than its visuals. If the music is good, and if the story is interesting than the visuals at best only need to be passable. And even then, Umineko's (original) visuals were barely passable and its still great because the story is great and it has one of the best osts for any VN.

Why is anime so boring compared to books?
The characters are all faggots and the animation is so clean cut and boring that it leaves nothing to the imagination. It just seems like the writers are trying to stall you from realizing the story is shit by using unnecessary action, slow pacing, and cliff hangers, then when you reach the end of the anime you realize you wasted your fucking time. The whole scam by writers in anime is to distract you from realizing the plot is nonexistent. Meanwhile in stuff like War and Peace something cool is always happening every chapter, and the characters are more unique, the world building has more depth and soul to it.
