Should guilty seek asylum here,
Like one pardoned, he becomes free from sin.
Should a sinner make his way to this mansion,
All his past sins are to be washed away.
The sight of this mansion creates sorrowing sighs;
And the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes.
In this world this edifice has been made;
To display thereby the creator's glory.

how is that true love?

"Man, I am so rich. I am ridiculously rich. Plus, most of the people I govern are really poor and desperate for work. Wait I have an idea. I can get them to build something for me and I won't have to pay them a lot. But what could they build? I've got it! I love my wife so I'll get them to build her a house. That's how much I love my wife: I pay poor people to build her a house!"

you're obviously a bitter virgin who has never experienced love of any sort. the taj mahal was built as a mausoleum for shan jahar's dead wife dude..the result was one of the most beautiful structures ever to be built in the entire world. that is the most romantic thing i have ever read about.

No there's nothing romantic about building a tomb for a loved one. In fact, it strikes me as an unhealthy obsession. This dude should've mourned and moved on. Part of the grieving process is acceptance, not building gigantic monuments to the deceased.

you obviously know nothing about love if you don't think it's romantic

a five star post.

Who's to say that I haven't been in love, or I've been married to my soulmate for 25 years? Or I've never been in love and I'm fifteen? Who's to say that you haven't been in love? All of these things are possible and each equally so. Therefore, it doesn't matter.

Being in love doesn't mean I can't recognize the fact that the story of the Taj Mahal creeps me out. I can appreciate the building itself, but I can't get behind the "true love" history.

By the same logic, if I don't like Lovecraft, it's because I've never been a racist.
