Usually the best one for English speakers is said to be Wheelock's Latin. I read some of it and it's good.

But honestly, do you already speak any romance language? If you don't, then start with romance. It's a lot easier to learn, plus you can watch songs, movies etc.
Then go for Latin.

I am glad I started with Latin before a romance language, I don't really enjoy living languages or learning them because I am not much of a traveller or culture buff (in the sense of soaking up the culture of a modern day country). I like history and literature/philosophy more, so learning an ancient language kept my interest far stronger.

I don't know about OP pic related but if you have a book you might as well do it, you can always supplement it with other books later.

Latin is a good hobby. I heard that Lingua Latina is a better way to do it. It's basically where you read in latin without any translating by building up on the words you already know (words similar to english)

can't speak to that book but i'm currently using the "dowling method" . I'm in early days but seems promising. Its using Lingua Latina but you learn some noun, verb, etc forms first. Glad to see others out there learning Latin, I feel like much less of a dweeb
