And that's good. Philosophy is a glorified cope.

The insular church gets cut off from Rome, which also makes it one of the major depositories of early works and teachings. They have to rely on each other for works. But they also diverge from each other significantly: church Latin develops in romance speaking countries, while insular Latin is closer to the original; insular calendars predict different dates for Easter than Romans; Pelagius opposes Augustine's entire view of the trajectory of humanity; Duns Scotius and scholasticism lead to all sorts of other heretical shit.
Most of the age of Empire is also when Rome is trying to solidify some sort of centralised power- it cannot control Ireland as it is too distant and well founded, but it can fight off threats from France and other European powers by soliciting their favour. It sends the inquisition when the continental powers ask for it. It sponsors the Jesuits, the only order to respond only to Rome, giving Portugal and Spain very early religious motivation to convert everyone in South America, Goa, etc., without the kind of hierarchical troubles local bishops caused in Ireland. The model of the Church changed to bring institutional and political power back to Rome, while ignoring Ireland. Ireland continues to have a very off book form of the religion but also develops a very different philosophical tradition.

Yeah but Nietzsche and Emerson only liked one person in the world and that was Emerson. Neither of them would recommend liking Germans or Americans.

We've got Thoreau, but that's besides the point.
OP is right and this isn't a bad thing because as >>16898199 said.
Instead of philosophers, these countries have theologians.

That's not true. They're not as publicly popular, but they're significantly more cited in literature.
