Whether or not I know how my body works, it still amazes me that such a machine can be created over thousands of years. Let's provide an analogous example.
I love computer games. I feel like I get to explore entire other worlds when I play them. One day, I determine that the worlds in my computer games do not exist materially, and in fact what I'm seeing is a complex series of simulations, derived from mathematical formulae and ultimately reducible to patterns of activation across a semiconductor.

The video games still exist.
I still experience and explore the worlds.
There was never anything corresponding to what I refer to as "material" existence of those worlds.

Everything you have ever experienced of love is still exactly where you left it.
