Hence the illuminati, freemasons, secret satanic cults, etc.

The internet creates the dynamics where these paranoid belief systems can propagate without constraint. Conspiracies become vast, crowd sourced imaginative projects , collective hallucinations that are spun together through spontaneous, asynchronous online communications.

A big motive for conspiracy thinkers is that they are intellectually insecure. They wish to obtain secret, special knowlege which sets them apart from the ignorant and elevates them as the enlightened elect. The draw of conspiracy theories is that it gives you the feel that you're "drawing back the curtain" and piercing the veil into a world of covert evildoings or cunning plots.

Finally, it fits in with the conspiratorial mindset that mainstream, widely accepted explanations are part of the conspiracy, to delude and misguide the masses. Conspiracy theories thus become self-sustaining by strategically shutting out alternative, often valid sources of information that might disrupt their narratives.

But again, it's impossible to prove that capitalism is the only mode that human nature affords naturally or that in all cases we gravitate to free markets through spontaneous laws of social organization. And modern capitalism is a far more degenerating and consciously manipulated thing.

I took the same SSRIs last year for about six months and this year again six months with about 8 months of break. They worked for me last year, this year they did not do anything. I'm convinced that the improvement last year was a combination of better life circumstances like quitting my job and moving into a better apartment plus the placebo effect as I honestly believed the medication would help. So I'm inclined to think that the meds themselves do not work as this year my anxiety and depression got worse when taking them. What really works is a change of life circumstances. But that is so much harder than taking a prescribed pill. It requires sacrifice and effort. All I could recommend is to take the meds, be optimistic about it and believe in them working to get the placebo effect, and take this artificial confidence to actually change something in your life that makes a lasting impact after the first placebo effect vanishes.

And here I am, beginning my thirties, working on the same damn novel since 5 years- the end isn't near- and without having finished any of my previous works.
I used to identify as a writer in progress. Now I feel I don't have that right anymore. I was too slow. Too lazy. Not dedicated enough. My life shaped me in ways I didn't expect, and the core of what I wanted to be seems to get further and further away from what I am every passing year.

My last year in undergrad is coming to a close this December, and as I reflect on it I am kind of saddened by how hollow the 'e-learning experience' has been. It's like anything engaging, affirming, or transcendent about learning is deadened and the whole thing becomes an exercise in data entry and rote 'discussion.' This may be a little different for the more pragmatically minded STEM people on here, but I really do think asynchronous online learning rips out the heart of what makes a liberal arts education at all worthwhile.

My cousin is a game developer/computer programer and worked on Ark : Survival Evolved. So now I spend a lot of time thinking about cool and fresh game concepts.

I have a pretty good one I think. It would be a super hero game, but the player characters would be insanely powerful. Instead of fighting a dozen enemies you would face off against entire armies. There would also be supervillains who are your equal, and when there is an epic showdown between the two, the aftermath looks like a nuclear bomb went off.

There would be 5 classes where a player is in control of : Radiant Energy, Space/Time, Technology, Biology, or Kinetic Energy(Super Strength/speed).

Basically the idea is to go all out with the power and have it be overwhelming. For instance, with the Space-Time Manipulator, you could lift a building into the air and crash it down into the ground, levitate the debris and turn those into a tornado that levels opponents.
The technology manipulator would be just as impressive. They could fire countless rockets at a rapid rate, summon a wall of turrets, or fill the sky with drones.
I think the possibilities could be endless.

The enemy factions you fight would be : Mutants, Giant Mechs, Lovecraftian Aliens and Elementals.
They would try to strategize against you as people strategize against bosses in MMO's. Slowly whittle you down, exploit weaknesses and vulnerabilities, etc..

Do you guys have asymmetrical eyes? I have gone my whole life, 23 years, assuming my eyes are perfectly level. When I look in the mirror, my eyes appear normal and even.

I had to take a head on, expressionless photo recently, and it was truly shocking. One pupil sits higher than the other, and my right eye seems to be permanently squinted or something.

This fact is still not apparent to me in a regular mirror, but I have found that when I hold up a second mirror my deformity is perfectly clear in the reflection's reflection.

No one has ever mentioned this to me. I asked my mother if she has ever noticed and she said no. Perhaps she is just lying- who knows. It's very eerie to learn that your casual reflection is just an image you grow accustomed to- and that image can be wrong.
