I think pragmatism is very interesting myself. Utilitarianism is a prescriptive moral view which I find less interesting.

Utilitarianism rejects virtue in favor of "happiness" on a large scale. It's inherently tyrannical form of populism that ironically goes against moral applications.

Teenagers are more radical in their beliefs than older people because they haven't yet had to compromise. They've had plenty enough time to have desires, experiences, complex emotions and muh education, the big difference is that they're still uninvolved in retarded boring shit (unholy school aside), and that's why you hate them.
Young adults (say, 20 to 30) have started to become bugmen and yet have still no life-experience, so they are the worst age group, no respect for them. My bet is you're among those.

>Whats with this board's hatred for utilitarian and pragmatic values?

Do you think "utilitarian values" and "pragmatic value" are the same? I don't. Utilitarian values are pretty straightforward: pleasures and pains, or, above that, capacity to produce pleasures and pains. "Pragmatic" value are more like, parsimony, simplicity, elegance, explanatory scope, etc. There might be some treatment that tries to put one in the camp of the other, but they are often orthogonal. For example, a scientific theory might enjoy lots of "pragmatic value" but be of little benefit to anyone (e.g., string theory); a largely beneficial theory might be quite ugly or ridiculous on pragmatic grounds (e.g., the standard model). Maybe you can spell out exactly what you think is the relation between the two? Because, if there is no relation, a "pragmatic" valuer and a "utilitarian" valuer will probably be at each others throats, and so your questions suggested presumption that they might coexist is a little weird.
