16696586 No.16696586[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

>be me
>wake up at around 9 am
>read kind of pointless and boring 100 year old novel
>decide to go for a long walk before eating
>go for walk with jumper because it might rain
>walk back home after 20 minutes because I changed my mind
>go for a drive to the place to walk
>start walking
>decide I'm wearing the wrong shoes
>buy new casual shoes on amazon on my phone
>go back home to switch shoes
>go driving and drinking coffee and read another 20 pages of the not quite boring but very pointless novel
>go for the fairly long walk while listening to cum town and then a rationalist podcast
>walk feels very pointless
>think about learning to code, but realise I probably can't be bothered, but realise I have no other options for productive things to do in my free time
>walk feels very pointless
>tell myself I should be a shut in- I've "just gone outside bro!!111" for years and it has never led to anything
>say a stacey in ripped jeans when going home and felt so demoralised
>ate food, plus crisps, plus 200g bar of chocolate, plus bag of sweets
>feel so fat
>will go for another drive and coffee for a few hours, then play vidya, then I don't know what (will still have hours of free time (almost wrote "ree time", which would've been accurate on some level lol))

I felt so fat after that binge but it was small compared to some of my binges a few years ago.

I have no initiative. Reading books is a pure consumercuck activity. It feels like work. Numbing my brain with mindless internet browsing, walking, driving, or work, is all I do.

The novel I'm reading is so pointless. It's just rich people doing nothing.

You’re working hard, not smart. You clearly think if you just go through the motions - going outside, walking, reading - things will just magically come to you. Well, you’re wrong. I commend you for taking the first step though. It’s better than many achieve.

You need to give something to the world. Success, money, fame and power are the most common substitutes for those who refuse to give their gift. All the same pointless activities you described suddenly have meaning if you are fulfilling your purpose. Doing those activities while not fulfilling your purpose will seem pointless. Everyones gift is unique; some gifts are obviously world changing to the observer, others seem much smaller and insignificant, and yet they are all world changing equally.

Take up gardening or woodworking or something. Or photography, or painting. Get a guitar. Learn to cook good food instead of eating this convenience store shit. Stop listening to podcasts. Walking is good but it's not really a hobby, much less a productive one. You've been posting these threads for years and they've been the same the whole time. You wanna do something? Then do it. Stop telling yourself you can't, stop wasting your time posting these threads where people tell you to fuck off and eat shit repeatedly. If you really love being humiliated so much, get into bdsm. Just stop with this shit already, change your life in any way possible by any means necessary. You obviously have enough money to waste it on stupid bullshit, so do something more interesting with it than buying clothes and chocolate.

No. If you don't enjoy it now, don't bother reading it. It isn't meant to get great insights but to enjoy the flow of the author and his 'ironic' thoughts about the society back then. There is no great plot that will make it a page-turner. It is unfinished and it shows, however the result wouldn't have been finished.
I chose it a few years ago because I was very interested in the life of the Vienna high society and aesthetics of that period but all I read was the disdain and ignorance of the author for it. That might have been fine but I didn't really get why he looked down on it and I don't have the knowledge to understand the book and its references - it expects to have witnessed this the late 1910s to get it. I dropped it not a lot later than you did but checked the further plot on Wikipedia to see whether I would make a mistake.
Imho it's a rather special novel and I wonder whether the people who praise it as a masterpiece or put in on lists have really finished it at all, because the few literature fans I know who read books dropped it as well. I mean it is pretty long - more than 1k pages and once a novel reaches that threshold it becomes a milestone meme book either way.

The absolute state of materialist rationalist cucks. Never forget, you could have chosen your life to be a cosmic drama of transcendental proportions over the salvation of your own soul, you could have chosen it to be an existential struggle to guarantee the existence of your people fuck you could have even chosen it to be a gentle voyage into the depths of Being through meditation, but of the many options of philosophy you chose to live in an atomistic, self-contradictory mess.

Lately I have my doubts that anyone chooses these things. People end up where they feel comfortable, which oddly is sometimes not where they feel happy or fulfilled. Every system of belief is riddled with contradictions, which its adherents either vehemently deny or gladly ignore. Materialism is not unique in that respect.

I get that you can't accept the contradictions in Christianity because your faith forbids it, but they are there. Intellectualize it all you want, you're engaged in the same game as the materialist, with a veneer of self-assured piety. Christposting has ruined the culture of 4chan, I barely recognize this place anymore, and for the life of me I can't see why a website with boards dedicated to cartoon porn would be so attractive to you people

At least those support Capitalism without being hypocrites. They do not pretend to be enemies of the system just to be able to look at themselves in the mirror.
