Generally this whole dude's channel. I love literature and philosophy but I find myself cringing every time I see people like this. Which made me think is this how we come off? There's something very pseudish about it. It's rare to find a Youtube channel, which exclusively deals with non-genre fiction, that doesn't come off this way. It's always the same shit. Preppy clothing, coffee mugs, whiskey etc. The only decent one was that bong manlet.

I wouldn't call it "pseudish," but I do agree the presentation of the whole thing is pretty off-putting. For me, it's just so obviously a curated image, and curation implies some kind of selection process, which itself just screams falsity. I'm personally pretty sensitive to inauthenticity, and when I catch a whiff of it I run for the hills. It feels like I've caught someone in a lie when I can grok a sense of how hard they're working at what's essentially a deception. I really don't like catching people in lies, it's just not a pleasant sensation.

I have seen a few critiques of one of his books somewhere. Apparently he is a shit writer. Also, I can't help but cringe each time he rambles about how education should be, when he claims to be a polymath, a "flâneur" (thats the cringiest of all) and when he says that we should see education as it was seen during the Renaissance while he is only a first or second year student that makes challenges on instagram with his gay black and photos because "reading classics is off-putting". What you are experiencing is simply the commodification of subculture in a somewhat developed state (this process has been going on for let's just say at least 100 some odd years i.e. the post World War era)
In the modern day subcultures (or whatever you're pleased to call them this is really just a stand in word for your convenience of understanding) get chewed up and spit out about as fast as a piece of gum but ask yourself what this process really is
It's a process of reducing something "real" (as real as you can imagine) down into pure language it's an optimization process geared toward pushing it in and out of mass consciousness as seamlessly as possible
Yes what is "dark academia"? Is it a subculture? Is it a movement? or a fashion statement? or an artistic style? or a trend? It's all of these things and none of them and it doesn't matter
Above all else it's a neat package mobile easy to love easy to hate easy to ignore all at your leisure

Image comes first. Someone who truly is invested in studying literature doesn't have to look a certain way. People like in OP's pic, typically liked the aesthetic and then built their style, hobbies, and interests around that particular look. It's reverse engineering a style rather than forming your own.
It's style over substance, plain and simple. It typically is a great indicator of a pseud.

i think cards came from egypt right? wonder how those suckers got to japan
i remember i conned my buddy out of his ditto cause i told him it was a junk card
still regret it to this day, he never really trusted me after that, we were only 8 at most, im always careful around kids now, because it really only takes a single person, a single occurance, to ruin a kids childhood
and that shits fucked up

Yes, please. Those peepos embracing nature are heartwarming.

Books with a bloomer vibe about getting in touch with nature?

obvs walden
emersons on nature is pretty based, and by the north east transcendentalists really
also for whatever reason i get really fuzzy vibes reading platonic dialogues, i know some people think theyre these dense huge philosophic documents of great import but socrates is just such a chill guy, he just wants everyone to be happy and live a good life, hes so innocuous to how impactful he will be, hes content to live his life lifting weights and wrestling, he doesnt care about the future
also somehow divine comedy gives me the sae vibes
and lotr, though i read those in elementary school so i dont really know how good they are now

yoooo bro who painted this and go you have more shit like this
the detail is insane, but yet it still retains the subjectivity of the paint that makes art great, the absurdity of scenary is comforted by the realism of the tones, the nature, the ease and elegance with which the painter achieves his art
i need to know who painted this masterpiece
also druidpepe?

And don't you forget it Angloid scum. You and your Jewish buddies had your fun for a few centuries, but now it's time to take your rightful place at the feet of the Han Chinese.
