>Carcinisation is an example of convergent evolution in which a crustacean evolves into a crab-like form from a non-crab-like form. Carcinisation is believed to have occurred independently in at least five groups of decapod crustaceans.

What if literature works the exact same way?

all literature ends up being ultimately about crabs?

Maybe the disparate strands of literature are converging towards something, all on their own. What are they converging towards though?

young adult garbage?

>> No.16638789

Probably. Someone should write a dystopian novel about a society that allows literature to disappear from the Earth--everything except for young adult fiction.

Was Sartre onto something then?

>Sartre: Yeah, after I took mescaline, I started seeing crabs around me all the time. They followed me in the streets, into class. I got used to them. I would wake up in the morning and say, “Good morning, my little ones, how did you sleep?” I would talk to them all the time. I would say, “O.K., guys, we’re going into class now, so we have to be still and quiet,” and they would be there, around my desk, absolutely still, until the bell rang.

It's a long process and you run the risk of being forever stuck reading reddit top 100 but I don't see anything inherently wrong with young adult fiction. It's aimed at teens after all

The problem is that adults read stuff almost exclusively. They don't ascend past the teen stuff.
