I bought all 6 Ace Books (I got them through Book Depository, so I'm still missing one since they send them one by one). Should I just stop at God Emperor? Because if I go to 6, then I'll have to read the Brian books. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but past 4 the Atreides story stops and we follow Duncan of all people.

Oh and I should say, Duncan isn't really the main character of the last two.
There's a later Atreides and some cool Bene Gesserit characters. Some of his best written and well rounded characters are in the last two books.

The sad part is the sequels aren't so good, Pohl was pretty aged by then

I'm reading it now. Just got to Part 3 in the first book. It's pretty good. It isn't earth shattering though.

There is lots of intrigue and I like how the characters have all been outsmarting each other (the identity of the traitor, Feyd and the Baron allied and then plotting against each other).

I thought the middle section, journeying to the Sietch was way too drawn out though. Took 1/3 of the book to go to a laboratory cave, then a secret bluff, then another cave.

I am guessing the last third is gonna ramp up though, with Rabban and Feyd and so one all getting to Arrakis??

I just finished Blindsight and really enjoyed the bleakness of it all, the musings on consciousness and transhumanism, and the utterly confusing aliens. Anyone know of anything similar?
