Our professor had us write an essay about a gender studies book she wrote. (This was a class on Asian anthropology, by the way.) I just read the paragraph length summary at the end of each chapter, and I managed to get an 90 without reading the book or even discussing the rhetoric used. I would have given myself a 70, but she didn't have stones to feel like someone in her class didn't like her.

The university system is a joke. I started writing essays for friends in Russel Group colleges and after getting a feel for the subjects, the essays would get firsts.

They were all sociology/business design, but it's a disgrace. Even in my Literature module, there were exams I took with 15 minutes of revision and no class time where I would score a first just by memorizing 10 quotes, a plot summary and a mix of made up and real critical interpretations which I'd then rip into.

When I was in highschool I wrote a pretentious ass essay quoting authors I had never read and /lit/ memes just to impress my cute teacher.
The essay ended up being a mess with a lot of rambling and quotes. I got a good grade anyway, but I wish I had done better.
