i remember when i was like 11 years old and we were supposed to check out a "halloween or horror" story in the school library. I picked this because I thought it was about the H.G. Wells Invisible Man. When I got home and tried to read it I was pretty disturbed, if I recall it had a naked gladiator match that rich people watched for amusement.

yeah, it's been awhile since i've read it but in the beginning there's a scene where he gets captured or something and forced into this arena where they strip all the black people naked and make them fight to the death for the whites' amusement or something like that
