I'm going to start it tomorrow. Should I read the Editor's Preface and the other thingy (Letters from somebody or something like that) at the start before the actual book? Typically I would skip prefaces and the like, but it seems like perhaps it isn't meant to be passed over in this one. Not sure though. Pls help frens.

Good book, most intellectuals would agree with most of the main themes/ideas but obviously we are a more modern society so we have stepped past the woes of what a city/Europe offered then the 'modern man'

Please encourage reading it, only two people IRL who have read it are the top two people intellectually I respected.

I was happy with it well into the learn to dance section, and the Goethe portrait stuff was funny too.

It's literally "have sex" the book. But I have to admit the last section is pretty great.

Hängt von deinem Geschmack und Vorlieben ab. Wenn du es traditionell magst und etwas lichtspielhausiges willst, könntest du es mit den alten Epen wie dem Rolandslied versuchen, kurz aber fein. Parzival wenn du zum Absurdismus neigst. Ansonsten gerne auch etwas ernsteres wie Kleider machen Leute sowie andere Werke von Wilhelm Raabe, Gottfried Keller oder Theodor Storm. Hamsuns Segen der Erde ist ebenfalls Pflichtlektüre. Und mein Favorit dieses Jahr ist definitiv "Soweit die Füße tragen". Es handelt von der Flucht eines Kriegsgefangenen aus einem sibirischem Bleiwerk, doch die Route bringt ihn quer durch Russland und den Nahen Osten.

Ich hoffe auch, dass du Löns Wehrwolf gelesen hast. Faust sowie Tristan und Isolde für Fühls können ebenfalls nicht schaden.

Ürigens, kauf keine neuen Bücher von toten Schriftstellern, sondern gebraucht auf booklooker.de oder ZVAB. Dem (((Verleger))) Geld in den Rachen werfen und dann auch noch Bezos ist Verrat am Vaterland.

It's not my favorite Hesse book but it's still pretty good. The ending was kind of gay though.
