In my case, I found it was probably a lot easier to hit rock bottom in this regard thanks to the internet. I've become quite at peace with the rabid plurality of views (most of which I don't agree.) I've become a lot less reactionary while being no less commited to learning---at the same time, I'm far less commited to 'being right.' I have this place to thank most of all, not only because of the deranged sperging but also because of the decency people often show.
