According to whom? Lattimore is the best for the Iliad and Fitzgerald is the best for the Odyssey

Pope's translation is impressive but I find the heroic couplets insufferable, I woulnd't reccomend it to a first time reader. I've done some online courses on The Iliad and Odyssey but never seen them use the Pope translation.
