How far did you actually read? It can seem like nonsense as they discuss rhetoric, but once they actually start addressing things like morality and justice, it becomes pretty easy to follow.

That's a lie, it's easy just keep reading as he does make an effort to recap and explain his ideas very well especially in Gorgias, so get past the 30 page point and you'll really realise why Plato is a genius and what he is trying to do in the dialogue. There is one line that Socrates says in the dialogue to explain it, but I wont spoil as it's so exciting to read.

Also the conclusion of Gorgias is not left as it is and is taken up in Philebus.
