Where does /lit/ prefer to read? I enjoy reading at my local cafe and drinking a turkish coffee while peeping at art hoes. Libraries feel too solitary for me; might as well just read at home

At home, in my bed because I can't afford to go out like that anymore. I used to read and write in my local cafe a lot.

Sorry to hear that. Only positive of my soulless STEM job is that I can afford to go to cafés pretty often

I've been lately reading Russian classics such as Dostoevesky and Tolstoy. I also enjoy reading about history; I recently read a book about the Spanish Civil War

A historyfag, nice. What book did you read about the spanish civil war? I've seen Mine Were Of Trouble mentioned here and wanted to get into that. Last history book I read was Storm Before Storm, highly recommend

I can only read innawoods, because my fight or flight is so overactive, anyone walking in my peripherals makes my mind too focused on keeping a track of movement around me.

desu it was just basic ass Beevor to get my feet wet. I thought it was pretty good and thorough though. I plan on reading Homage to Catalonia soon as well.

>Storm Before Storm

I miss to read at the Starbucks that is in front of Tama river in Futakotamagawa. I like to read on the train, I can focus on what I'm reading.

The timeperiod between the destruction of Carthage and Sulla resigning his dictatorship. Essentially this period laid the groundwork for the Caesarian Pompeian civil war, and in many respects (my opinion) it's a struggle that was never really resolved but simply underwent rebranding. Good stuff, and I especially like the focus on the breaking of 'mos maiorum' as a catalyst for populare/optimate politics.

Go on a 6-mile bike ride down to my favorite coffee place and get coffee, a muffin, and an omelette sandwich if they have any.
It doesn’t get much business, which on one hand means no art hoes to peep at but also a nice and quiet atmosphere.

It won't work. There needs to be a clear division between a place of work, a place of relaxation and a place to socialize.

Picking these habitations is necessary to avoid the ever ingrained need to shitpost or distract oneself with the mindless pleasures we're constantly impacted by within our modern world.

Go to a library, go into the woods, even go for a walk and pick a new spot. Making it crucial to tell yourself that you're doing "x" or "y" separates the need to indulge in those divisive behaviors /lit/ is often complaining about in the age of distraction and disinformation.
