Settled to start with the greek following the /lit/ Philosophy Project. As of now, just finished reading Mythology by Edith Hamilton.

Does one need to remember every knowledge from this book ? Does a mere understanding of important myths and gods suffice before continuing with The Illiad as next indulgence?

Becoming an erudit is not the goal but opening ones mind to philosophy is.

Yes. Homer gives the gods various titles all the time that basically describes their relation and attributes anyway.

Honestly desu jump into First Philosophers by Waterfield, Plato's Trial Of Socrates, and eastern shit like Dammapada, Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita, and Analects.
