I would actually start with short stories, and read analyses of them, so you get a faster crash course on literature as real art. Kafka's stories are a great place to start for this.

Or go to a book store, open several of the books from this list, read like 1-2 pages of each, and start with the most interesting one.

Stop planning and just start reading - why plan a million books when you're probably not going to get through them any time soon

+1 for Hyperion cantos

Lmao no
>The Wheel of Time
Absolutely not, even considering doing this should make you feel embarrassed
>The Book Of The New Sun
Maybe, Idk much about it
>The Count Of Montecristo
This is a good starting read because it’s fun and easy for someone who isn’t discerning whilst still being worth reading
>1001 Nights
Can’t say, I haven’t read it
>Don Quixote
One of the best

>Pirandello's works
I know very little, probably worth your time
>Three Muskeeters + 20 years after
It’s probably a waste of time, total of all musketeer books is ridiculously long
>War And Peace
One of the best
>Everything by Lovecraft
Waste of time, read Poe instead

Huxley and Orwell are full of shit, read Junger (eumeswil) instead. Also my newbie starter suggestions would be; a month in the country by Carr, lost horizon by Hilton, and a river runs through it by Maclean. These are the three books that anyone can cultivate a love of prose and dialogue through, they're short, off the beaten path, and some of the best books that the english language has to offer.

Read the others I listed before you even attempt it. It's a very similar story; about an individual and his relationship to a strange futuristic society. It's real benefit is Junger's philosophy prose, I've never thought much of Orwells writing style and Huxley's philosophy is terrible even if his book is a classic. Junger is arguably one of the most subtly influential thinkers of the 20th century, and Eumeswil is his magnum opus. If you don't take my advice, and decide to go with the others, keep in mind that 1984 is more about language than totalitarianism or anything else you were told in high school. Definitely do check out my other recommendations first though!

>A Song Of Ice And Fire
I'd read this after LOTR or other high fantasy to appreciate the deconstruction
>Dune saga
Just the first three. Good starting point.
>The Dark Tower saga
Not worth it, just read The Stand as your Stephen King doorstopper. Same themes.
>Elric of Melnibone
Read before ASOIAF
>Conan The Barbarian
Black Colossus, Tower of the Elephant, Slithering Shadow
>The Sprawl trilogy
Just Neuromancer
>The Wheel of Time
Only good at the start. Read before ASOIAF if you do.
>Hobbit + Lord Of The Rings + Silmarillion
Read these before any other fantasy epics
>The Culture series
Similar enough to Foundation. I'd pick this over Foundation though.
>War And Peace
Just cliffnote it
>Everything by Lovecraft
You don't need everything. Aside from the Old God's canon Pickman's Model and Color out of Space is good, after that branch into The King in Yellow and other 'mythos' books

It remains his most popular, but eumeswil remains his greatest work. All of his books have been influential or great;
>storm of steel
kicked off the conservative revolution
>the worker
created dialogue between german and soviet governments
>on marble cliffs
openly critiques hitler without consequence like a badass
>the peace
Indirectly causes the attempted coup on hitler
>eumeswil
where he espouses his philosophy
>the glass bees
predicts the internet and is great scifi pre-asimov
