Manly a fiction guy, but I've bought some pholosophy and other non-fiction books recently. Once I'm done with Magician's Nephew, it's Thus Spoke Zarathustra.

I'm an anthropology major, it's more of a document than an academic work on the Taino. Really short (the essay is about 30 pages total not counting the appendices) and really easy, with some super surreal parts that feel like an ancient aliens script. It's the only ethnographic survey of the first people Colombus came into contact with, and is the only documentation of their religious traditions.

If I had to redo it, I wouldn’t have argued with a certain professor over innate gender differences. Also, take an internship if your university has that option. I had to work to put myself through school and the university never gave me any info about the internships no matter how many times I asked. if it conflicted with my job I wouldn’t have been able to afford bills. So I settled on not doing the internship. Looking back, I should have made things work.

Do supplemental reading. If a text mentions another author, hunt down the author and read his work. You’ll be better for it.

I finished On the Road a week ago. I absolutely love it. Makes me want to spend time with Dean follow him on a crazy adventure

>> No.16186696

>>16186668
Dean's aN asshole. He deserts Sal so many times. One moment in particular that stuck out to me is when Dean is going on about his own experiences and something reminds Sal of his own experience but when he tries to talk, Dean doesn't let him. Guy is full of himself and would not be a good friend. He might help you get laid or drunk but guy won't be there for you in the long run.

>> No.16186715

>>16186696
Yet Sal has a point that he is an interesting character and sparks things in people’s life. You have a point, but I still love Dean for what he is and would not for what he’s not.

>> No.16186740

>>16186715
He's only interesting if you find his kind of madness/fun interesting. I grew up with a brother who did similar shit and all he ever did was bring my family financial/emotional grief. He's grown out of it and become such a kinder person. That's what inspires me, what sparks me. Again, I guess it's a personal thing. I just see him as an irresponsible, selfish asshole.

I'm not sure yet. My dad was Irish Catholic, and I'm mostly Irish (part German) so I'd like to be Catholic, but I don't know how I feel about the Second Vatican Council, and to reject it would mean rejecting papal infallibility. I'm considering Orthodoxy, quite a few people have recommended it to me, since Protestantism is pretty fucking cringe.
