They only achieved a brief period of greatness with Dikran The Great, after that it only went downhill for them, specially after the Turks claim that land, leaving them with utter nothing. Their only thing they've got left is their annoying feeling of pride, which they try to force into people to recognise their genocide, which, I repeat, at certain point it starts to be annoying as f*ck. I tell you this because i attend to an Armenian school as a child, and the level of indoctrination in that place was the worst, also they bligate us to attend to church every sunday. They have like 200+ saints, and their services lasted for at least 4 hours, in which you have to be standing the whole time, in spite of the fact that they have seats. They also throw some incense, at first it was ok, but after 4 hours of repeteadly doing so you start to feel dizzy and kinda sick, and it leave your clothes with a heck of a smell. Only thing I appreciate about them is their cuisine, honestly.

As an armenian, I agree with you on some parts, luckily I was raised secular, but we still had to study church hist at school although the new,liberal government wants to get it out of there fortunately. However I do believe that genocide-awarness campaign is necessary as long as it isn't universally aknowledged.
