I enjoyed his Bullies book. Helped my sister break from mainstream media propaganda. Not as great of an author as the rightwingers proclaim him as but definitely makes valid understandable points on his books. Hate the debates thought, he just speaks fast so you don't understand what the fuck he's talking about.

as far as media analysis is concerned I find Noam Chomsky ( manufacturing consent in particular) to be quite insightful regardless of what you think about his political opinions. outside of that as a general rule just steer clear of mainstream televised news in general. television is generally a terrible way to disseminate information (unless it's a long-form interview).

as for his political opinions, I am generally sympathetic to the causes he advocates. but his end goal is at best muddled and not clearly defined.

as for his media analysis, his objections to televised news, the shortcomings of that format (time constraints and lack of nuance discussion for complex political issues), and the fact that mainstream news is beholden to their advertisers, I generally agree with.
