Why would you say he's not intelligent? He made several advances in philosophy in the first two decades of the 20th century. He kind of becomes irrelevant after the 1920s though. The guy was 50 by 1922 and lived til 1970. Most people do their major philosophical work in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and after that they become irrelevant because the times move beyond them and they can't keep up. Russell's work previous to the 1920s is really important and innovative. His stuff after 1930 is more or less irrelevant pop philosophy. /lit/ judges him on the basis of the latter because they're pseuds, they don't know his older stuff.
