Land says that Hegelianism is the life support machine of Kantianism, and that Bataille is awaiting its malfunction. Start from there.

If you had read it you'd know it's not so much a book ON Bataille, as it is a Bataillean book. It's not really explaining Bataille, but is a first elaboration of Land's own philosophy, in the spirit of Bataille and pieced together from a lot of quotes of Bataille's Oeuvres complètes. Just as Bataille's On Nietzsche or Deleuze's Nietzsche and Philosophy are more about their own philosophy than Nietzsche's - which is why Land esteems them. (Of course it's good to have an idea what Bataille is about beforehand, yea to have read him, I don't disagree with that. But stil...)
