Is Treasure Island actually a good read or just important for its seminality?
The same question applies to Robert Louis Stevenson's other works

Honestly I've only read abridged versions of Treasure Island when I was young. And besides Treasure Island I just know of Weir of Hermiston because an episode of Archer was gushing over it.

It's okay, but aside from (maybe) Jekyll and Hyde and his other short work, Twain and Dumas both pretty much hit all the "adventure novel thrills and laughs" way more consistently than Louis does. But you could read it in a day, I guess.

I always thought it was silly how they always abridged Treasure Island and Kidnapped. 9-13 is the perfect age to read those books in full yet they always edit them so the person hasn't read the whole thing.

She's not wrong. The plot is rather retarded. It was written just before the advent of the modern novel.

I like his stories about the Suicide club and the other adventures of the prince, as well as the tale of Zero the failed anarchist bomb makers. Also the one that describe the history of a colony of bacteria in a coffee pot. In general he has quite a few more "savage" stories that are pretty funny.

I wouldn't recommend posting your picture here, nerd. It's an anonymous forum.
