There's hardly any point reading Ferdydurke in translation (other than to look like a pretentious hipster faggot) - particularly the Mosbacher translation. It's a novel that's as much about the polish language as anything else. The only thing you can get from it in English is a good example of the translator's skills, nothing of the original. Its the same with Joyce, Eliot, Perec, any of the great linguistic stylists, the only way to genuinely appreciate the work is in its original language.
