Comics aren't literature, period. There is literature in them, but it is mediocre literature that is placed around images. They are two separate mediums of communication set side by side. You read, and then you view the image. You view the image, and then you read. A comic is not some magical blend of the two; it is only them placed together. It can move people, it can be powerful, and it has merit--yes, but it will never be considered a form of literature unless it undergoes radical paradigm transformations.
