How do you measure a work of literature? What do you look for?

How many references it has to Rick and Morty.

While my intellectual brethren have given solid measurements for judging a work of literature good and I can hardly complain, I feel I must point out, and do so with emphasis, that what truly elevates one work beyond another is the emotional involvement it creates. The novel makes you sad? Angry? Cheerful? Good. The more the better.

Shut the fuck up, faggot, I don't care about "better" if a foot long stick is enough. Kill yourself, you fucking piece of redundant shit.

This but I'll add the intellectual and spiritual involvement too (does it interest you? stimulates you? spark your curiosity? makes you think, inspire you, make you reflect on yourself, teach you something, reinforce in yourself something you wanted to be reinforced?).
Some books are fascinating enigma. Other are wonderfully clear. Some are perfectly ordered words, other give chilling portrait of chaos. The point is that a good book achieve something solid in your mind. The general criteria is fertility.

Mmh yes a well-put addition to my post, thank you. Indeed both the mental and spiritual involvement is as important as the emotional involvement.
>the general criteria is fertility
Solid term to use.

What's the largest amount of smegma you've excavated from your crotch after a long reading session and what book was it?
