>The capacity for action, at least in the sense of the releasing of processes, is still with us, although it has become the exclusive prerogative of the scientists, who have enlarged the realm of human affairs to the point of extinguishing the time-honored protective dividing line between nature and the human world. In view of such achievements, performed for centuries in the unseen quiet of the laboratories, it seems only proper that their deeds should eventually have turned out to have greater news value, to be of greater political significance, than the administrative and diplomatic doings if most so-called statesmen.

>But the action of scientists, since it acts into the web of human relationships, lacks the revelatory character of action as well as the ability to produce stories and become historical, which together forms the very source from which meaningfulness springs into and illuminates human existence.

Contrasting actually significant scientists against pop culture "scientists", some of which don't even have a science degree... I couldn't imagine that a historically significant scientific mind would overshadow that of a showman! The most obvious conclusion is that Germans are superior, despite the fact that there were no real American scientists presented.

I have not met a single person who studies psychology or sociology who doesn’t also read and value philosophy. Not the case with Hardline STEMfags, but everyone I know In the social sciences has at least a rudimentary understanding of philosophy. You are either a young undergrad or you haven’t met people who are very knowledgeable in their field.

Philosophy has been discussed for thousands of years; competent physics for maybe five or six hundred. Psychology is a relative baby to these fields and has made excellent progress, but of course there's a lot left to do. I'm hopeful.
