I come here for the stray thread that's not about the same shit that every other thread is about(since, 90% of the time, every thread is about the same books/authors/troll-baits/tripfag drama).

In those threads I look for interesting reads. So far I have not been disappointed by anything I've found in these threads, be it fantasy, classics, etc.

None of my chums talk about books except a girl who likes Robert Jordan but I don't want to talk to her about them because I know I'll offend her by saying he sucks.

I love Iain M. Banks, although I was a little disappointed with Surface Detail.

I come here to ocassionally help out people who ask questions, and largely to meet like minded people - there are occasionally good threads on here - there was one about Hardy recently, and another one on Yeats. I really love poetry, so to meet another like-minded soul on the interwebz from time to time ain't all bad.

The rest of the time I just act like a dick, troll tripfags and mouth off, same as everyone else.

I'm here because I recently got really into literature and I figured the must-reads here were as good as any. Better than some.

And it's a place to talk about literature. I do talk to one girl I know about books. She thinks Dan Brown is deep. I feel disappoint. Regardless, it's better than nothing.

I mostly come here for recommendations. I love to read, but am not super into dissecting books, so I don't always feel I have much to add to a discussion thread. I might lurk the thread if I really liked the book or if its one I'm on the fence about reading. I'm good for giving recommendations too, if the request is for a genre I read.

Combination of all three. I try to introduce other people to the books that I love and I make threads about specific authors/genres in order to discuss them and find people who also enjoy the same stuff.

And also to have fun, really. Bookshelf threads, sexy author threads, 100 book challenge threads, just silly meaningless stuff that's still related to books. /lit/ is a pretty entertaining place most of the time.

I come here to
1) Get book recommendations, unfortunately /lit/ usually fails at this as all they generally talk about it classics. To recommend a classic would of course be pretty trite, for reasons I hopefully don't have to explain. But I have gotten a few good recommendations here.

2) To have intellectually stimulating conversations, which of course /lit/ often fails at as well. It seems that nine tenths of /lit/ are stupid people with stupid opinions, the one tenth remaining being intelligent people who most of the time just want to use their intelligence to wave their dick around.

Oh well.

For reasons 2 and 3 (as most of the people here i guess). Strangely, I am extremely politically incorrect. And that does not meant the douche way (e.g. Not a pedo, druggy or a gore fan). But this is the only place where I can vent some of my my inner feelings and feel at ease. I am looking for people who come here for same reason and sometimes I even find them.

I come here for the fast cars and the hot babes. The fast cars being tripfags and the hot babes being tripfags

I like to make recommendations and give my opinion on all those 'last three book' threads, give advice in poetry threads, and sometimes (it does happen!) discuss cool things with cool people who know what they're on about.

I trip when making judgments and giving recommendations, but otherwise, I don't.

I lurk to get recommendations for new literature, and post to recommend literature to other people. Yes, there are still a small number of people who use the board for this purpose.

I don't like tripcodes, but I use one so that people who know I take requests seriously can keep track of my posts.
