He turbo fence-sits on any issue that might reduce his clout. Like the God thing for example, he simply refuses to answer whether he believes that God exists or not. This is because on one hand he doesn't want to alienate the (mostly-secular) young boys who follow him. But on the other hand he doesn't want to piss off the religions nuts who will cling to any public figure that somewhat identifies with their dying religion.

What he actually said was that makeup was "sexual signaling" and therefore, any women who uses makeup in the workplace is a hypocrite if she complains about being harassed by her co-workers.

This is fucking dumb. Makeup might have appeared to make women more sexually attractive to potential partners. But that doesn't mean that every time a women uses makeup she is secretly looking to get fucked. In the workplace women are socially expected to wear makeup.
Sex originally appeared to make babies, but 99% of sexual encounters don't happen with the purpose of making babies.
