If someone wants to read about Derrida let me recommend Christopher Norris' Deconstruction. He's written a lot about Derrida and deconstruction in general. Good stuff and mandatory reading before tackling Derrida.

Obviously you've read Derrida's essay, i personally applied it to the preface's in Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, both from the 1818 and the 1931 edition, you can easily read both of them online, they're only a few pages long, and maybe we can discuss his ideas and how they relate to this?

i think high school is diff here in england, we're in high school til 16, college til 18 then university.
in college we studied some theory but mostly feminism and marxism, but the harder critical theory did not start until Uni. However most of these essays are ones i read myself, as in, they were not assigned from a course etc.

Everyone "the reasoning" behind his style. It's still not any help for understanding Derrida. I think the best thing I've ever read on Derrida is a book called Borges and Derrida by Monegal. He basically uses Borges to explain deconstruction/post-structuralism and calls Derrida a hack.
