As a stand alone it's a great children's book, but everything after that is most certainly not child like. I pretty much like everything he's written.

I fucking love it all 4 of the original books are enjoyable and shadow was a nice reinvention.

You are now aware that Ender's Game is a nerds space-football fantasy. It even ends with a hail mary pass.

Orson Scott Card gave a speech at MIT once. We were expecting him to talk about Ender's Game, but he spent the whole time spouting pro-Israeli propaganda and bitching about Noam Chomsky. I wasn't aware of that side of him at the time, and I've never really thought about him the same way since.

Really love Ender's Game. The rest of the series is alright but kinda pales in comparison.

The conclusion is really half-assed. Card creates an evocative narrative, spins it wonderfully, then there is some Freudian bullshit and the queen is left for Ender to save. Why not have Ender struggle with his acts of violence? Way to wimp out.

Ender's Game is good.
Speaker for the Dead is AMAZING.

Ugh. I hated every character in Children of the Mind. Card pushes the whole having family is the greatest thing a man can do. And in the end Ender just gives up on life with so much left to do. He stopped planet hopping to marry Novinha the love of his life and had no children of his own. And Miro marries a 13yo girl. Fucking hated Children of the mind.

Loved Ender's Game, read it in one sitting, wasn't 100% satisfied with the ending but I still love the book.

Loved Speaker for the Dead. Loved it.

Xenocide was slow to get through compared to the first two, but I still like it and Children of the Mind is in the mail. I got a few tears in the middle of it. "That giant tree in the middle of the forest - inside it were ALL their babies. ALL of them. This forest did us no harm, and we came and killed their babies." ;_;

I absolutely love the way the pequeninos talk/act, and I know nothing about Orson Scott Card (and from the way people talk about him, I'm going to keep it that way just so nothing interferes with the story).
