Pretty sure that was its actual name. At the very least a cat in one of his stories (Rats in the Walls iirc) was called Niggerman. Presumably named after his actual cat, though I don't know if I've ever seen any evidence of that being the real cat's name.

I was watching a book reading list video on YouTube by a Communist and he literally recommended Lovecraft but of course with racism warning. Most of the weird horror fictioncels are leftists(See: Ligotti.net) and they see this man as a Saint. Even Lovecraft was a socialist. So they're not going to cancel the man because of his cat.

All of them, eventually. Woke activists are experts at finding the flaws in anything and anyone, and they won't stop until society has been purged of anything that could be considered problematic. That's a problem, because virtually everything ever written can be explained as problematic though critical theory (i.e. the foundation of wokeness), and it ultimately will, because these activists have based their identity around what they perceive as fighting injustice, which means that they'll jump at the opportunity to destroy anything "problematic" so they can feel like heroes and get approval from their peers. They will judge centuries old literature through a 21st century lens of ideas about race, completely disregarding the fact that the author couldn't possibly have known better. Even the fact that Europe was basically completely white for most of its history won't stop them from complaining about how white the Western canon is.
