Where do I start with Jung? I found out about him through Campbell's Hero of a Thousand Faces.

He seems very interesting. I also love Persona 4. But he wrote so much, and it's hard to break in.

Also where does he write on Christianity, gnosticism, and esoterica? Those seem most interesting.

I'm starting him now by reading Modern Man in Search of a Soul. Seems to briefly sum up his major ideas

Don't read this. This is a series of books that are so surface level that you may as well read the first paragraph of the wikipedia page.

Jung was a serious researcher so some of his books have more footnotes than that American guy wrote the books with the footnotes before he killed himself.
These 2:
Man and His Symbols
Synchronicity
will do just fine to start.

I disagree. if they're influential then you need to familiarize yourself with their work. because otherwise your understanding of ideologies/works/theories that were influenced by them will be incomplete. the only intellectually honest way to understand an author is to read them. if you don't immerse yourself in their thinking and instead rely on secondhand accounts of their ideas then you will never truly understand them.

Unironically start with the Seven sermons to the dead. If you can take it while enjoying it then you can go on studying his work with ease. You're initiated.
