How do you justify modern infantry tactics in the far future where drones will be able to do just about everything way better than human soldiers ever could? Most modern war is already just "call an airstrike on this dudes head" anyway, the only real use for infantry is just finding the dudes that need a bomb dropped on them or clearing the inside of buildings, in any setting with human/above human-tier AI it just seems obsolete to have dudes with guns shooting at each other.

I've always wanted to write a story in which the protagonist had an abusive, alcoholic or otherwise messed up father whose failures drove said protagonist to strive to be better than him, both out of spite but also out of a desire to win his approval. Is self publishing the way to go? I feel like most traditional publishers expect you to have certain aspects in your story these days otherwise they won't pick it up.

I read this entire series because of /lit/ memes and I was not disappointed. I cannot say whether it was good or bad, but I found myself alternating between rapt horror and hysterical laughter all the way throughout, and I am positive that the latter was not intentional. Nevertheless, thoroughly enjoyable. It reads sort of like Homer having an edit war with a Sophmore philosophy major and Steven Erikson in a shared google doc.
