Haven't read enough to put together a coherent chart but anyone who's doing that might want to look into Durkheim's "Suicide" and "Forms". They're extremely interesting. Not really political philosophy so much as social philosophy in the late 19th century.

Assuming you're passingly familiar with Marxist economics/freud/sociology you can start from that chart if you wanna dive right in. If you want to take more time, The Gift by Mauss, The Accursed Share (1-3) by Bataille and Society of the Spectacle were heavily influential on Baudrillard.

I'm assuming that because you're interested in these philosophers you're fairly intelligent. Spinoza's Ethics, followed by Tractatus Theologico-politicus, then Deleuze's book on Spinoza. I'd recommend Deleuze's works that are directly on a topic, like his writings on Proust, Nietzsche or Cinema. The only thing is, you have to be familiar with the concept he's analyzing. He's most graspable when he's applying philosophy to an object, rather than when he's expanding his own concepts like in Difference and Repetition. His work with Guattari is also some of his more difficult work, it assumes you have a solid foundation in both freud and lacan.
>>15679040
His concepts of General Economy and the Accursed Share are unironically some of the most useful concepts for understanding humanity.

>> No.15679144

>>15679054
Based on your answer, I think I'll go something like this: Ethics -> Tractatus -> Deleuze on Spinoza -> Deleuze on Cinema.
Thanks.

The real tragedy of this chart is that it excludes his essays. His early prose essays are excellent, and his speeches he would later deliver are equally great. To keep it short, I have a background in working with kids who are either unable to function in the school system, or have special needs like being severely disabled. The main issue I have with psychology is its ridiculous focus on models of human behavior, rather than actually interacting with the individuals you are charged with. If you find a series of behaviors where only 80% of them fit into a given model (disorder, mental illness, etc) you find a model that overlaps and assign treatment based off that. Additionally, the sheer infusion of pop-psychology and pop-sci into the minds of 'professionals' has led to retarded behaviors on behalf of my colleagues. It's a discipline that sounds great on paper, given our cultural love of models and paradigms, but when put into contact with reality it's an absolute failure.

The return to nature motif has been around as long as there’s been big cities. Writers and everyone else have felt more at ease with more natural forms being better than less. Now with impending ecocide it’s been fully taken into socialist thought (with “eco fascism” always trailing to keep up). It’s just common sense. And I believe we have to meld the technological advances with the so-called “primitivist” strains to make this work.

The thing about Derrida is you have to be familiar with what he's 'deconstructing' in a given essay. As for Foucault, I've always found starting with The Order of Things to be the best intro to his style of (rather dense) writing. You can go anywhere from there.

Horrible meme graph. If you're a beginner, use Khan Academy for basic maths up to highschool, then start on learning logic, set theory, and proofs. After that, go into Linear Algebra, Analysis (rigorous calculus), etc. There's absolutely no reason to read Basic Mathematics as a beginner and anyone who recommends you do that before even trying to learn proofs/logic is trolling you.

The books on proofs and set theory in the image are actually pretty good, How to Prove It is a classic (although "structured" teachings of proofs aren't really a complete thing, it's mostly practiced through just constant repetition of formulating and reading proofs). I haven't read the other proof book. For logic, "Introduction to Mathematical Logic" by Mendelson is good.

If you just want to be an engimonkey or code nigger none of the rigorous stuff like that is needed though, you would just learn the Calculus's and differential equations along with introductory Linear Algebra. What I'm describing is a proper, basic pure mathematical education.

People are loud about it, but the government doesn't want people to panic, and the media is told to report on uplifting or sensational stories.
