When I was 11 there was a secondhand bookstore that had two stories full of books stacked like this. I went there to buy some old trade paperbacks, and the lady who owned the store gave me one more for free.

The next time I went with my friends, and I was one of those kids who was fine on his own, but a total dick when with 'the boys', so we went upstairs, and while they stood watch I turned on the tap in the bathroom an locked the door. Then we both left.

We then heard that the entire first floor (all the shelves, books) were ruined by water damage.

Finally fixed my bookshelf so I've not just got books cluttered all around my room, how's this for someone who only got into reading less than a year ago? And if you can't make it out the farmost one on the top row is Dubliners.

What is the point in owning 5/6 (I can't tell if the box in the top right is another set) copies of the same book? If it's something like the Odyssey or something and they're different translations or something, at least there is some level of sense in that, but here it's literally just the same book with a different cover.

At least you're solidly committing to the whole gaudy Easton press approach, it only looks lame when half-assed. Besides, their books certainly are made well. I only own the one Easton Press, copy of Canticle for Leibowitz since I couldnt find any other printings I liked enough, it's nice.

I'm less into eagles, but alsk went with nicely made wood shelving, have finally shed all IKEA trappings, with some small safisfaction. I could never spring for the collection in Easton or Folio, so I've opted for cohesion in Everyman's Library for my classics, and a solid shelf of SF Masterworks for contrast.

Speaking of Folio, anyone own a copy of their Starship Troopers edition? It's another scifi classic I would love to own, that like Canticle isn't in Masterworks printing currently.

I just recently discovered some used book places here in Ottawa so I've started buying some stuff from them. That's the reason for some of the random out of order stuff like the vagabond volumes.
Some of places price manga really stupid though because they think they are rare Japanese art books or something.
Never liked romance stuff, but those series seem pretty quality.

English manga in general is pretty obscenely priced. You can import manga from Japan, pay for fast 1-3 day shipping, and worst case you end up paying the same as you would for the English volume. Sometimes you're paying less than half price. I get that manga is a niche product in the English speaking world but my god is it ever overpriced.

Oh yeah I know I buy English manga from Indigo when they have sales and it's pretty pricey, but I mean some of these second hand places will try to charge $40 for a single volume of One Piece and stuff.
Plus you kind have to know how to read Japanese to really take advantage of that.
I'm a buyfag so I've seen the prices for full sets of Jap manga series vs English and damn I really need to learn Japanese.
