1. an empty feeling knowing that over half of the beauty of the poetry disappears once its translated.
2. a bunch of random info about people who died around Dante's time.
3. comfy dialogues with Virgil and maybe even a desire to go to the 9th ring of hell to chill with the greeks/romans
4. lots of references to mythology
5. tfw no gf

its aight. never read the rest of the comedy - is it worth it?

I never knew too much about specific Greeks and Romana, and specific Italians, but I like scholastic theology and Dante really goes crazy with it in the two books. Nobody can describe the Catholic-Bloomer mystical experience of staring at the sky wanting to look beyond the stars and capture the light emitting from God himself!

I will now recite a canto:
In the midway of this our mortal life,
I found me in a gloomy world astray
Gone from path direct: and e'en to tell,
It were no easy task, how savage wild
That forest, how robust and rough its growth,
Which to remember only, my dismay
Renews, in bitterness not far from death.
Yet, to discourse of what there good befell,
All else will I relate discovered there.
