Something by Coco Chanel probably.

Most mainstream economists argue for a consumption-based economy and society, and presume that human beings are basically selfish consumers who want to "have a good time" and "live well," and will go about this in minimally rational ways like not shooting up heroin 50 times a day and dying (they prefer to raise a family in suburbia and watch Marvel movies ten times a month instead)

The goal of most economists is to maximize this sort of "happiness" by maximizing "wealth" (capital) which for them means restricting government interventions in society and economy

So just read any neoliberal economist

I love that dog meme

Similar question: are there any works that argue for a technological society being good for the human condition? I don't mean Pinker-tier "woot, less babies dying", I'm looking for a deep counterpoint to Kaczynski's or Ellul's neo-Luddism.

Yeah this. Read the section of any microeconomics textbook on consumer's preferences and the like, because it's basically all just a justification for being a total hedonist degenerate.

None that matter, and this shouldn't even be a question. Read Plato, Aristotle, Locke, and Marx and stop asking such faggoty questions.

If you're legitimetly interested then any undergraduate level economics text book. If you want memes then take a pick at anything from an AnCap reading list. If you're super interested then take a course.

It’s not bait. Marxism is a religion in which the holy spirit is the production of consumable items, the Son reductive materialist philosophy and the Father the consumption mindset.
