what are the most important "deep" or "academic" reading lists that /lit lacks?

>> No.15479556

Anything outside of /lit/'s top 100 chart is invisble to us

>> No.15479568

serious question, when people make a detailed chart on a certain topic, have they actually read all the books included

Economics. The entirety of 4chan is illiterate on the subject of economics.

>/lit/ seems almost exclusively focused on three things:
>/lit/ top 100 and other famous works of the ""western canon"
>Works of Major western philosophers
>Occasional non-fiction memes

say more. what kind? classical? applied?

could you send some ideas for a starting point/any links?

>>15479568
that's the idea, at least here.

what unusual/off-topic would interest you the most?

Obvious starting place for economics is an undergraduate textbook in Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. See Mankiw and Varian respectively. If you want to get more of an idea about what economics is about without actually studying it academically, I can recommend the Tim Hartford books, or Thomas Sowell "Basic Economics" which is just an introduction to some economics concepts without any mathematics or diagrams. Sowell has a bias but he does a good job explaining some of the most simple concepts in economics, like the arbitrage mechanism and why price fixing doesn't work, which they don't properly explain in academic textbooks.

Off the top of my head:
A Comprehensive guide to Marxism. There have been various "leftist" charts (including the read theory meme chart), but there hasn't been one to focus on Marxism exclusively.
Sociology, Anthropology, and other social sciences
Musicology
Literary Criticism/Theory

totally misread, my bad. what angle would you want to approach bakhtin from? what interests you the most about his thought?

>>15480415
what in "musicology"?
literary criticism is also a large field. any more specific suggestions?
thanks anon.
