I've felt this ever since taking a few years to work on my physique and appearance. I was never bad looking, just had an average skinny physique and not much dress/hair sense. I got less attention, but I had some solid loyal friends and the girls that liked me did so because they got to know me as a friend and fell for my personality.

These days I have a large social circle and get approached a lot more, but none of it feels as genuine. Girls are basically incapable of having an authentic deep conversation without either being entirely sycophantic at best or just blatantly disinterested. I've developed a lot of fake "friend" acquaintances, guys that act like they want to be friends for appearances but are clearly trying to undermine me out of jealousy or something similar.
