What kind of stories do you like?

One of my favorite books is No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai, but while a fairly easy read in English translation, it is also quite dark. So it may or may not be something I would recommend.

You'll know, you can switch to a different one.

Maybe try someone with short stories like Kafka or something that's easy to digest like Hemingway

If you're like me and wasted your formative years on video games and now have trouble concentrating, I'd recommend reading some short-ish novels or short story collections to get back into the swing of things.

I read a lot of Philip K. Dick (Androids, A Scanner Darkly, Ubik etc.) and that helped a lot. Then I went back to all the normie highschool lit like Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye.

After that I was pretty comfortable reading again so I Started With The Greeks™

Hope this helps

Read exciting trash to start and remember why you loved reading as a kid. You did love reading as a kid, didn't you? Check out the Altered Carbon books. I haven't seen it but assume the Netflix adaption is trash, just read the books. It's pretty much just a violent and sexy romp, no literary value whatsoever but will warm up your reading muscles. Then read Iliad and Odyssey.
