So, what's /lit/'s favourite piece of art?

I'm going to go with Waterhouse's "The Lady of Shallot". I've always been a big Tennyson fan, and there's something quite magical in this picture. I mean, she's beautiful, but the boat and background blend with the image of Arthur being set down in the boat by Bedivere, just after his death. It makes it quite haunting, I think.

as far as finding images of art goes, there isn't one good place to go. If the artist is alive, see if they have a website or a gallery that represents them. Failing that, try to email the artist.

If the artist is dead, you can still look online, but you're more likely looking for an archive or academic catalog that has images. Artstor is decent. Also, dead artists tend to be published in more books than living ones. Libraries. If there is an art college in the area check out their library. The Kansas City Art Institute has a pretty amazing collection.
