Why do I keep losing interest in reading a book so quickly and drop it ? It keeps happening to me and it's annoying the fuck out of me
Additionally, how do I find the spectrum of genre books that I would mostly be invested in ? Do I keep reading random shit until eventually find what rings a bell in me the most ?

Yeah thats it basically. Maybe read the first few pages before you buy it

You don't like the book maybe. I got hooked with Kafka recently and haven't dropped it since then.

Read about whatever subject interests you or choose a book you like and read more by that author. Once you're done with said author read the authors that influenced him or authors he influenced.
I tried going the "top 100 /lit/ chart" way and was bored out of my mind.

You can't pirate some books because they aren't classics unless you're an ooga booga classics neet. You also can't pirate criticism and the textual notes they give you in the front, or indeed that is published separately. Also physical books are a luxury idm spending money on them it means i have something to give my kids when they read can read :)

Why do you want a genre? Just read good literature. Think movies, why would you want to consciously box yourself into a genre and then watch thousands of bad horror movies? Better watch Kubrick, Coppola or Kurosawa.

You can just read other stuff in the six months. It's not like you're six months ahead lmao

I honestly can't think of any book where the recent reading went smooth, unless it's some pulpy serial fiction. Worthwhile stuff is not easy?

On my shelf I have about 12 books that I’ve read the first 30 pages of, I know eventually they will strike me, but I tend to just jump around after giving it a good 30 page sitting before I move to the next one. For example I’ve tried to read neuromancer about 4 times and I just keep dropping it. I picked up American psycho and couldn’t put it down.
