I've never understood why City of God is in advanced, its super easy text to understand and it doesnt have a lot of unique ideas that a modern person hasnt heard about before in it

Is is just based on its length?

I think so. It is colossal as a book. Also you would need to be a bit familiar with Roman history so I guess it would be advance to someone who uses a /lit/ chart

i bought half the books on that chart and haven't started them yet. an anon here said that Mythology has spoilers for the Iliad/Odyssey and said he should have read Mythology after them, is this recommended?

>Social Contract
>Leviathan

Amazing, absolute must reads

>Capitalism and Freedom

Not really a good read, no. The only good part about that read was his theories on privatizing education. He also had something interesting to say about communist influences in the media.

But yeah, I didn't like anything else I read, I felt it was far too political.

Those first two are must reads though. MUST reads.

This is a pretty great chart actually, saved. Zeno's Conscience (and also Emilio's Carnival) are some of the most underrated books I've ever read. On the other hand I think Skylark is incredibly dull, but most people seem to enjoy it

I'll check those out at some point, the only thing I've read on here is Herzog which was great, currently working on The Tunnel which has also been very nice so far.

Does anyone have a hard sci fi chart?

I've read a few of them and they were all fairly good. A World Undone is probably the best starting point. The Pursuit of Power followed by The Sleepwalkers is a gives a pretty thorough account of what led to the war, but that's a lot of reading to do before you get to the actual war. After you know the different battles of the war you will most likely have a favorite or two, which means you can read books about that to your hearts content.

>>15324326
Roberts is your best bet. He covers everything fairly well and while you could accuse him of being a Napoleon-boo he backs up his points with facts at every turn. After that you can read just about any other biography without worrying too much about biases either way.

Someone should make a library with all the books mentioned in these charts, for easy access to them.
