Books like this? I'm really depressed. Looking for books that can help me to find motivation in life.

Unironically, when was the last time you went outside for a while? Going for a run/walk might help. Dave Barry also makes me chuckle, which might slightly alleviate bad feelings. Also, As a Man Thinketh was pretty helpful for me and it's available online and very brief

If you haven't read Tolstoy's other work I would suggest that, including his novels.

Otherwise:
The Confessions of St. Augustine
Works of Love - Kierkegaard
Walden - Thoreau

I didn't like the fact that he lied about his experience and about how long he actually spent in each of the camps. You can usually smell bullshit when the author has to exaggerate his experience to make his method look at least somewhat viable.
I also don't like books about oppressed Jews in general. It's something you can never argue against. Why didn't he write a simple article on logotherapy instead of this bull? He uses a topic that is impossible to attack without using social credit and then uses it further as a vehicle for promoting his type of therapy. Freud likely fabricated his case studies, but I have way more respect for that.
Lastly, problem of logotherapy is that if the patient cannot find meaning, the therapist has to supply him one, maintaining the parent-child relationship between the therapist and patient, which I find to be a horrible idea due to my own experience in therapy, which involved me and therapist acting on the same level rather than the therapist being the one who has the key to life.

I had my doubts of him for 2 things:
Dachau DOES have ovens and he said in the book that it didn't.
He didn't wanted to publish the book with his name.
But this is another level.

The Seven Storey Mountain. Literally a man's search for meaning, turning to religion, and eventually entering into monastic life. Also it's a great snapshot of how everyday life was like between the world wars. It's my favorite autobiography by my favorite author. If you like exploring themes of spirituality, this book is perfect.

I'm trying to think which category depression would most likely fall under. The only thing I can say I know is that depression always has an element of loneliness, so man vs. no God seems relevant.

Not op but what about recs on fixing existential depression? Is it possible to 180 degrees your life or the only hope is to find a cope and stick to it instead of killing yourself in 30s?
