genuine question: why do people on this board hate STEM so much?

What keeps mankind alive?

You gentlemen who think you have a mission
To purge us of the seven deadly sins
Should first sort out the basic food position
Then start your preaching, that's where it begins

Your lot who preach restraint and watch your waist as well
Should learn for once, the way the world is run
However much you twist or whatever lies that you tell
Food is the first thing, morals follow on

So first make sure that those who are now starving
Get proper helpings when we all start carving
What keeps mankind alive? What keeps mankind alive?
The fact that millions are daily tortured
Stifled, punished, silenced and oppressed

Mankind can keep alive thanks to its brilliance
In keeping its humanity repressed
And for once you must try not to shrink the facts
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts

Is it? I would wager that vast majority of people who study and work in STEM have no political aspirations and banal political opinions. How has it ceased to be an academic disciple? and how is it a political force?
>>15297747
Do you think either of those are representative of the scientific establishment? Isn't one of the main complaints against the "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE" reddit crew that they don't actually do STEM and their interest is only superficial?

that's fair.

Not him, but STEM isn’t an academic discipline anymore. People don’t study STEM because they want to find the truth about the world or anything like that. They study it merely to get a job.

That may be true for many who do degrees in STEM, but there still is plenty of research in Mathematics and the Sciences that can rightly be called academic. Besides, if something that is studied merely for a job is enough to make you hate something, then there must hate almost every occupation.

I don't hate stem I hate faggots I had to work with that Larp as STEM experts. Had a little soifaggot always shoehorn in math or science into any conversation. Kept on talking about P values when discussing Ebola when we were having a onversation about monoclonal antibody theory (which he knew nothing about and had to make the convo about what he knew).

There are a lot of faggots like this, all with lisps and pale faces that make STEM obsessed redditors appear to be the biggest pseud dick suckers. its an expression of inadequacy, it is saying "I'm pathetic but at least I have SCIENCE. Math is everything guys"

This is largely not true, only with the recent developments in the field has it been that way.

For instance, I would consider Tocqueville more of a scientist than Marx.

STEM is politicized by people outside it. Most actual scientists are fairly apolitical and indifferent to the "muh pro-STEM" movement.

So you think. The entire dogma of evolution is becoming extremely thick and encroaching on other sciences, and I don't think sociology really used to be so heavily influenced by social Darwinism, or even social Marxism for that matter.

Then we consider mathematics, which is extremely watery these days. You could even say modern mathematicians are making a statement by not proving necessity and sufficiency, that proving things backwards and forwards is no longer necessary, and also that even proving things without using reductio ad absurdums is no longer necessary (the weakest form of mathematical proof as alluded to by Aristotle in the Topics).
